"What If..." is a book years in the making, even if it didn't take that long to write. The original concept probably dates back 20 or so years, but became real sometime in 2025.

There are plenty of sports books that tell you what you already know—who won, how it happened, and the people most responsible for history. Those are great. I enjoy reading them. But this one hopes to serve a different master: Guessing what could have been.

You may fully agree with some chapters. You may think some are totally off base. You'll probably have a few tabs up by your side, checking back on the actual history vs. the new historical fiction. Mostly, it'll make you wonder and think about the sports moments that were, and the ones that could have been.
